Doc Rivers' time coaching the
Milwaukee Bucks didn't get off to a great start. When he first took on the job after the firing of
Adrian Griffin, Rivers' team suffered multiple humiliating losses and some insiders were wondering if River's hiring was a mistake.
But the Bucks have looked much better lately and have climbed back up to the second seed in the Eastern Conference with a 42-23 record. Since the All-Star break, the team has gone 7-2, with a top-seven offense and a +8 net rating.
Although it's unlikely that they will surpass the Boston Celtics in the standings during the regular season, the Bucks have a very good shot at a strong playoff run.
Bucks star
Damian Lillard has felt a change and he told Yahoo how the team has changed. "I think we were turning the corner and playing our best basketball right now," he said.
"I think we've still been a much better team than we have been since probably the start the season. Just from how it feels out there and I think some of the things that we're doing," he went on.
Lillard and
Giannis Antetokounmpo are playing like a strong unit together, which is great news for Milwaukee with the NBA postseason just a few weeks away.
Rivers has made a few important tweaks to how the team works, including with defense. That was the biggest problem with the Bucks all season long but Milwaukee is looking much better on that end of the court now.
Will it be enough? To make it back to the Finals, the Bucks will have to defeat a number of tough Eastern Conference teams, including the very intimidating Celtics. Milwaukee is looking a lot better right now but they will still have to keep improving if they wish to make it out of the Eastern Conference.
