The
Philadelphia 76ers were able to improve their roster on Thursday at the trade deadline, adding
Buddy Hield, a hot shot guard who had played for the Indiana Pacers for years. With him, the 76ers have another strong, youthful shooter who can help space the floor and post crucial three-pointers.
However, the 76ers might not be done making moves, although they might now be relying on acquiring buyout players. The Philadelphia Inquirer states that the team will be looking to see which other players are now available via buyouts.
They will likely need it because they parted ways with a few strong players on Thursday afternoon. The team cut ties with Marcus Morris Sr.,
Patrick Beverley, Danuel House Jr., and Jaden Springer. These players were known for their toughness and strong defensive skills.
The Inquirer has heard that Philadelphia was okay with saying goodbye to Beverley and others because they felt they would have luck in the
buyout market and would find some suitable replacements for them. There are now multiple NBA stars throughout the league who are without a home and waiting for a new franchise to sign them. For the right price, the 76ers can do just that.
Kyle Lowry is just one of the buyout options that the 76ers are contemplating. Most buyout players are those who are a bit older on smaller contracts, which would mean they'd be ideal for a bench position.
The 76ers are trying to navigate a tricky period now that Joel Embiid is out for weeks following knee surgery. Obviously, they want to find players who can help them win until he gets back.
