The
Charlotte Hornets have been quite active before this
trade deadline. They sent Terry Rozier to Miami, and now they are thinking their way out of the contracts from
Kyle Lowry and
Gordon Hayward. Two players that could be useful to any team that's looking for experience and veteranship.
According to
Marc Stein, the North Carolina franchise wants to agree on trades for its two veteran players before the market closes. Their goal: to deepen their rebuild by reaching deals with teams that aspire to compete for a ring this year.
In the case of Hayward, the player has not played a game due to injury since December 26. He has been out for more than a month, although according to reports his return is on the horizon. This season he has averaged 14.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game until his injury.
As for Lowry, the veteran point guard came to the Hornets along with a first-round draft pick in the trade that sent Terry Rozier to the Miami Heat. As an expiring contract, he has appeal both for teams looking to go all-in for a ring this year and for those looking to free up salary cap space heading into free agency.
