The
Phoenix Suns are definitely one of the most fearsome teams in the Western Conference. That being said, they are still the sixth seed and have suffered a few tough and possibly avoidable losses, despite the trio of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal being healthy.
This has led to a lot of speculation about what the Suns might do before the February 8
trade deadline. Just last year, they shook the world when they acquired Durant from the Brooklyn Nets. Will they make any similar big moves within the next few weeks?
N.B. Lindberg of FanSided took a look at a few potential trades the Suns could make in order to improve their chances of finishing the regular season strongly and bursting into the playoffs.
The first thing the Suns can do is sign
Andre Drummond, currently of the Chicago Bulls. After years in the league, Drummond is having one of his best seasons yet and could greatly assist the Suns when it comes to defense, particularly rebounding. For the season, he is scoring 8.3 rebounds, per game and he could do some great things coming off of Phoenix's bench.
Plus, his contract is an expiring one worth only $3.3 million, meaning the Suns could get him and several other players at the same time.
Another veteran of the league,
Kyle Lowry, could be acquired by the Suns before the trade deadline. He could greatly benefit the team as a second-unit guard with experience and basketball expertise unmatched by nearly anyone else on the team. Plus, if the Suns are looking for someone with a lot of playoff knowledge, it's Lowry.
Finally, if Phoenix wants to acquire an aging wing player who could be purchased for cheap, they'd be smart to look at
Gordon Hayward of the Charlotte Hornets. Hayward would be a great fit alongside Durant, Booker, and Beal and would improve the team's size and shooting abilities.
Hayward has long been a good two-way player who can do a lot because of his offensive skills and size. He could definitely give the Suns a boost and maybe help them climb higher in the standings.
