Kyle Kuzma is one of the best players on a very bad team. He has averaged 22 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 4.3 assists so far this season for the Washington Wizards, a team that remains 14th place in the Eastern Conference. And because of the team is having so many problems and Kuzma is doing quite well, he could be shipped away before the February 8 trade deadline.
David Aldridge of The Athletic is reporting that the Wizards want an awful lot for Kuzma, but they may be willing to lower their asking price for him.
"League sources maintain Washington has been holding out for two first-round picks for Kuzma, though team sources indicate that is somewhat overblown," Aldridge stated. "The truth is probably somewhere in the middle."
Kuzma has grown a lot as a player during the few years he has played for the Wizards. He is now much stronger both offensively and defensively and has increased his leadership skills too. With that being said, he would likely be signed to a team that would use him a third option.
The Wizards obviously value Kuzma a lot since they are asking for two first-round draft picks for him. By requiring that sort of deal, they are making it clear that they are going to be rebuilding the team, recruiting new talent in the draft instead of trying to secure players who can help them win right now. That means that Wizards fans might have to experience a few more years of bad track records and ugly losses, especially if they say goodbye to Kuzma.
