NBA Rumors: For the last several years, Jordan Clarkson has been a consequential part of the Utah Jazz and is currently averaging 17.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game this season. Clarkson's time with the team has been very beneficial for him and has earned him the Sixth Man of the Year trophy in 2021. Despite that, he may soon be bringing his talents to another team.
On Tuesday, Tony Jones of The Athletic reported that Clarkson could be traded to the New York Knicks. In fact, the player would reportedly "welcome a trade [to the Knicks] if that's how it would go down."
According to Jones:
"I can tell you just from my conversations with people around the situation, I think that Jordan [Clarkson] would welcome a trade [to the Knicks] if that’s how it would go down. There’s another team out west he would welcome a trade to. I'm not going to say the name of that team and the reason why I'm not going to say the name of that team is because there’s very little chance of that trade happening."
It is interesting to hear that there is another team in the Western Conference that could also sign Clarkson, although Jones won't reveal which it is.
The Knicks have been the rumored new home for Clarkson for a few months now. That team is on the rise in the East while the Jazz remain mired in mediocrity in the West. Utah is still multiple pieces away from being true playoff contenders but New York could make it far into the postseason this year.
Clarkson has been with the Jazz since 2019-20 and is now the most-tenured player for the team. Some fans would be very disappointed to see him go but they'd hope the front office would get a big return in exchange for him. Could it be enough to turn things around for the struggling Jazz?
