Just a few weeks ago, the
Chicago Bulls were the talk of the NBA world with some analysts and writers believing they'd be very busy at the NBA
trade deadline. Now, with the deadline literally just hours away, movement within the team seems to have slowed down.
On the latest
episode of "#thisleague UNCUT", NBA insider Chris Haynes said that talks about trading
DeMar DeRozan have gone quiet.
"I’m not hearing really anything going on the DeMar DeRozan trade front, which leads me to believe he will be kept through the deadline and I would think that both sides would get back to the table and start trying to talk about an extension," Haynes said.
Haynes added that DeRozan's agent, Aaron Goodwin, had spoken with the Bulls' front office at the start of the season but they haven't spoken much since then. Still, he thinks both sides will come back to the table after the trade deadline passes. Yet, both sides remain "far apart" when it comes to working out an extension.
So far this season, DeRozan is averaging 22 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 5.4 assists. It was assumed that he could be one of a few players traded from the Bulls this season, with Zach LaVine and Alex Caruso also being potential trade assets for the team. But it now sounds like all three players might stay, especially LaVine who is out for the rest of the year.
It remains unclear if the Bulls will make any big changes at the deadline this year or if they will attempt to ride through the rest of the season with the roster they have now.
