This game was all about one of the greatest prospects in NBA history, Victor Wembanyama. He put on a show and it was absolutely ridiculous watching the plays he made in tonight's matchup. Wemby dominated and led the San Antonio Spurs to a 122-99 victory over the Toronto Raptors at Scotiabank Arena.
The first overall pick in the 2023 draft made history tonight, becoming the first rookie in NBA history to put up a triple double with blocks in less than 30 minutes. He showed why he was the most prized possession in last year's draft and this rookie has all the tools to be one of the best players in NBA history.
Wembanyama finished with a stat line of 27 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, and 10 blocks. He controlled both ends of the court and looked like a superstar in this contest. The 7-footer was also 3 steals away from recording a 5x5, which hasn't been done since 2019 by Jusuf Nurkic.
Teammate Devin Vassell had a great game too, finishing with 25 points. Jeremy Sochan scored 16 points while Tyus Jones contributed 7 points, 7 rebounds, and 10 assists.
On the Raptors side, Scottie Barnes struggled, finishing with 7 points, 9 rebounds, and 9 assists on 20% shooting. RJ Barrett scored 13 points while rookie Gradey Dick had 18 points with 4 made threes. Midseason acquisitions Kelly Olynyk and Bruce Brown finished with 17 points and 12 points, respectively.
