An NBA official admitted that the referee made a wrong decision during the Houston Rockets win over the New York Knicks.
During the match, the referee decided to call it a foul when the Knicks’ point guard Jalen Brunson ran into Rockets’ guard Aaron Holiday.
After the match, crew chief Ed Malloy admitted that at the first instance, the referee decided that the contact was illegal but their point of view changed after watching the replay.
"After seeing it during postgame review, the offensive player was able to return to a normal playing position on the floor," he said. "The contact which occurred after the release of the ball therefore is incidental and marginal to the shot attempt and should not have been called."
Holiday also commented after the match about the incident stating: “I just tried to get the ball and get a shot up. I saw him tip it, and it came close to me, so I just tried to get it and tried to make a 3, and Jalen just ran into my chest."
The Rockets came out on top in the match with a score of 105-103 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas on Monday. With that win, the Rockets are now placed in the third position in the Southwest Standings with 24 wins and 29 defeats.
