San Antonio Spurs young centre
Victor Wembanyama has jokingly
stated that he was very close to achieving ‘quintuple-double’ with turnover in
the match against the
Toronto Raptors.
The 20-year-old is often regarded as one of the most
highly-rated players currently playing in the competition. He lived up to the
hype with his star performance against the Raptors on Monday.
Talking about it after the match, Wembanyama joked that he
was very close to achieving a ‘quintuple-double’ as well.
“I had it as a second thought, yes, but I was playing to win
first,” he said. “I almost got a quintuple-double with turnovers. I had to make
an extra effort tonight because less and less people go at me. Yes intimidation
is a factor, I can see it out there.”
Spurs went on to win the contest as they defeated the Raptors
with a score of 122-99 at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.
Wembanyama ended the night with 27 points to his name to go
with 14 rebounds and five assists as well. It was truly a historic night for
the Le Chesnay-born who ended up with triple-doble including blocks.
Wembanyama is having a fabulous season for the Spurs where
he is averaging 20.4 points, 10.1 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game.
