The
San Antonio Spurs' young sensation
Victor Wembanyama is going
through one great season by all accounts. The 20-year-old is often regarded as the
most highly-rated young player currently playing in the competition.
Wembanyama recently became the first player in the history
of the NBA to register more than 200 blocks, more than 100 three-pointers and
more than 75 steals in a single season.
To achieve all of that at the age of just 20 is an incredible
feat in itself but to achieve all of this while playing in a team that has struggled
throughout the campaign like the Spurs have done makes his achievement look even
more incredible.
Spurs became one of the first teams this season to go out of
the race for the playoffs as they are placed at the bottom of the table in the
Western Conference with just 15 wins and 54 defeats in the ongoing campaign.
Despite that, Wembanyama is registering 20.7 points per game
which is the best by a Spurs player this season. To go with that, he is also
contributing 10.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.
His most impressive outing this season came in the match
against the Phoenix Suns in November where he registered 38 points to go with
10 rebounds and two assists.
