New Orleans Pelicans forward
Brandon Ingram suffered a
serious knee injury in the match against the
Orlando Magic.
In a video that was available on social media, it could
be seen that in the third quarter of the match, the 26-year-old’s knee bent awkwardly
as he had to be taken off the court.
According to different media reports, Ingram was later sent
for an MRI scan. Pelicans coach, while talking to the media after the match, expressed
optimism about hearing good news soon. "Our prayers will be going up and
hopefully we get some good news back," Green said.
Ingram’s potential absence at the business end of the season
could be a severe blow for the Pelicans as he has been a star performer for the
side throughout the campaign.
In the 2023-24 season, the North Carolina-born registered 21
points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game. His most impressive outing for
the side this season came in the match against the Toronto Raptors where he
ended up registering 41 points to go with six rebounds and nine assists.
The Pelicans ended up losing on the night with a score of
121-106 at the Kia Center in Orlando on Thursday. After that result, the
visitors are placed in the fifth position in the Western Conference with 42
wins and 27 defeats. On the other hand, Magic remains in the fourth position in
the Eastern Conference with 42 wins and 28 defeats.
