Former NBA star
Charles Barkley has lambasted the media for
calling the
Los Angeles Lakers and the
Golden State Warriors as the contenders
for this year’s championship.
Both the Lakers and Warriors are currently going through a
difficult season as they are placed on the ninth position and the 10th
position in the Western Conference.
Barkley was recently quoted in a report where he expressed
his frustration with the media outlets still calling both teams as serious
contenders for the title despite being placed so low in the Western Conference.
"I am so sick of these fools on other networks talking
about the Lakers and the Warriors,” he said. “We don't brag about any other
play-in team, do we? I understand Steph is great, LeBron is great, but ain't
nobody worried about Lakers and Warriors in the West.
"These teams in the West aren't worried about them. We
be kissing these guys' ass so much. We don't brag about the No. 9 team in the
East. They ain't got no chance. The Lakers and Warriors are on a little spell,
they doing nice, LeBron was amazing last night. But they ain't beating the
teams ahead of them."
The Lakers will next
face the Denver Nuggets in the next match on Saturday whereas the Warriors will
go up against the Toronto Raptors on Friday.
