The Boston Celtics are having a great 2023-24 NBA season. With their last statement victory against Golden State yesterday, Boston reafirmed what everyone in the basketball world thinks: They are the best team and they are heavy favorites for winning it all this year. On the last seconds of the first half against the Warriors, they handled perfectly the 2-on-1 play, moving the ball between Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Derrick White. This is a perfect example that proofs that Boston has matured towards a team play mentality which makes them so dangerous and hard to defeat.
Just a few years ago, Brown would have opted for a contested shot without much thought, but this time he opted for a smarter move, passing the ball to an open Derrick White. This reflects a change in the team's mentality, which now prioritizes collective play over individual performances. The mutual trust among the players and the faith in the system of play are there to see in every action they execute on the court.
The Celtics' success this season is not only due to their individual skills, but also to their ability to play as a cohesive team. The arrival of veterans like Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday has strengthened the roster and added experience and leadership to the locker room.
Boston has shown relentless determination in every game, displaying resilience on both offense and defense. Their aggressive style of play and ability to adapt to different situations make them a menace for any opponent. In addition, their bench depth allowed them to maintain a high level of play throughout the season.
