Anthony Edwards was clearly the best player on the floor tonight, and in this game he helped the Minnesota Timberwolves defeat the Portland Trail Blazers 121-109 at Moda Center.
This was a second game in a back-to-back for Minnesota, as they defeated the Clippers last night. With a victory tonight, the Wolves were able to retain the 1st seed in the competitive Western Conference.
After the contest, Anthony Edwards mentioned how the team as a whole were locked in from the start. All they cared about was winning, and you could clearly see that from the tip-off. Ant-Man also praised the effort from Nickeil Alexander-Walker, saying that he displayed extreme confidence that reminded him of himself.
Despite turning the ball over, NAW came back down and hit 3 straight three pointers in consecutive possessions, and Ant said that this gave the team a ton of momentum. Speaking of confidence, the 2020 first overall pick spoke about his huge scoring performance, saying that he felt great from the jump and said that he's capable of scoring more.
Edwards scored a game-high 41 points in tonight's victory, which is his 8th game scoring 40 or more points in his short career. Rudy Gobert finished with 16 points and 15 rebounds while Karl-Anthony Towns had 13 points. Nickeil Alexander-Walker scored 18 points with 5 made threes off the bench.
For Portland, Deandre Ayton finished with 22 points and 16 rebounds. Anfernee Simons scored 20 points while Jerami Grant ended with 12 points. Rookie Scoot Henderson had 14 points and 9 assists off the bench.
