The Atlanta Hawks have made it clear that their star player Trae Young is off the trade table. The Georgia franchise, is actively hearing offers for its other star Dejounte Murray, who's probably the most sought-after player of this market. However the future of Trae Youngs remains with the Hawks.
Sources close to the situation reveal that, despite the presence of prominent players such as Dejounte Murray on the market, the Hawks are steady in that they will not consider trading Young.
The information comes from Zach Lowe, a well-known ESPN reporter, who has indicated that the idea of trading Trae Young is considered by the Hawks to be "unpalatable."
The Hawks have full confidence in the talent and contribution of Young, who secured his presence in Atlanta through the 2025-2026 season with a player option for 2026-2027, thanks to a five-year, $215 million contract extension signed in 2021.
Besides, it wouldn't make much sense for the Hawks to dive into a deep rebuild. The franchise sent San Antonio Spurs three first-round draft picks in exchange for Dejounte Murray back in the day. It would be totally illogical to start all over again without having the support of those first rounds, the long-term future of the team would be on a tightrope.
