New York Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau has a type when selecting players: tough, battle-hardened, smart and willing to excel on defense. Raptors small forward
Bruce Brown seems to fit this profile, and he expressed his willingness to live up to Thibodeau's expectations.
Brown, recently acquired by the Raptors in a trade involving Pascal Siakam, has already played a game with his new uniform against the Knicks, where he scored eight points in his team's 126-100 loss at Madison Square Garden.
Despite signing a two-year, $45 million contract with the Pacers this offseason, Brown could be on the move again as the Raptors appear to focus on rebuilding.
The Knicks, interested in bolstering their roster following the absence of Immanuel Quickley, are among the top suitors for the 27-year-old, according to ESPN.
Brown revealed that he held talks with the Knicks before joining the Pacers. Although they were unable to match Indiana's offer, Brown discovered that Thibodeau has always admired him.
"I play extremely hard, I think I'm the type of player he likes," Brown said, emphasizing his style of play in line with the Knicks coach's preferences.
Despite the unsuccessful negotiations with the Knicks last offseason, Brown has a chance to join the team, general manager Leon Rose will try to bring Thibodeau a new piece of work, a tireless and committed player.
Despite an ongoing lawsuit between the Knicks and Raptors, the recent trade of OG Anunoby was not affected. Brown, averaging 12.1 points per game this season, remains focused on his on-court performance and is willing to adapt to a new environment, even if that means returning to New York, a city he has grown to love since his previous stint with the Nets.
