The
Atlanta Hawks were rumored to trade away
Dejounte Murray to the Los Angeles Lakers this trade deadline. However, both parties couldn't reach an agreement and ultimately, the All-Star shooting guard remains with the team.
Tonight, Murray proved why that was the right decision to not trade him away. He led the Atlanta Hawks to a 122-113 victory over the
Houston Rockets at State Farm Arena.
After a slow start to the season, the Georgia team is picking things up, winning 6 of their last 8 games and fighting to move up in the Eastern Conference Standings.
Dejounte Murray finished with 34 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists tonight. Saddiq Bey scored 24 points while Most Improved Player candidate Jalen Johnson had 21 points.
Trae Young had a rough shooting night but still ended with 18 points.
Meanwhile,
Jalen Green led the Rockets with a big stat line. He finished with a triple double, recording 26 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists. The 3rd year guard was also being shopped around, but Houston decided to keep him and that seems like a good decision as well with the way he played tonight.
Veteran Jeff Green scored 19 points while rookie Amen Thompson had a double double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Aaron Holiday had 18 points off the bench and Jabari Smith Jr. played amazing defense tonight, as he recorded 4 steals and 4 blocks.
