The trade deadline is near, and while the
New York Knicks are having a good season, they know they can't compete with the East's Juggernauts. Celtics, Bucks and 76ers have better rosters than the Knicks. The management team is trying to figure out which player might fit perfectly with the coach needs. Although
rumors circulate around landing Portland's
Malcolm Brogdon in New York, sources tell that there haven't been any contact between the front offices.
After signing OG Anunoby, the Knicks are taking things slowly prior the trade deadline. Ian Begley, from SNY.tv, informed that the Knicks and Blazers haven't had a "significant discussion" about Brogdon as of late last week.
That's not the case for the Lakers, 76ers and Magic. All of them are interested in the 31-year point guard.
This doesn't mean that New York is done leading up to the deadline. Another rumors linked Spike Lee's favorite team to
Bruce Brown. The Knicks were also interested in Terry Rozier, before Miami got him.
They are currently looking to
Alec Burks, who knows what is like to play in the Garden. Bringing Burks would cost less money than Brogdon, something that could be an advantage this off season. The Knicks will have cap space to try to lure a superstar next summer.
Malcolm Brogdon is averaging 15.2 points and 42% from three. His numbers justify why so many teams are interested on him.
With the trade deadline closer, there's the question if we will see Brogdon adding his value to a contender team.
