The
Cleveland Cavaliers were without Donovan Mitchell, but
that wasn’t a problem as they defeated the
Detroit Pistons 110-100 at Little
Caesars Arena behind
Evan Mobley’s monster performance.
The Cavs are one of the league’s most underrated teams, as
they have 4 All-Star caliber talents in Spida Mitchell,
Darius Garland, Jarrett
Allen, and Evan Mobley. This big 4 compliment each other nicely on both ends of
the court and with numerous options at the small forward position, this team
could make some noise in the 2024 NBA playoffs.
The former USC Trojan played arguably the best game of his season,
finishing with 22 points, 17 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. Darius
Garland had a team high 29 points and 8 three pointers while Max Strus scored
14 points. Jarrett Allen had 9 points and grabbed 15 boards and Isaac Okoro
recorded 12 points in his spot start.
For the Pistons,
Cade Cunningham led the way with 21 points
and 10 assists. Jaden Ivey scored 18 points and Isaiah Stewart had 16 points
with 9 rebounds. Jalen Duren recorded a double-double, ending with 14 points
and 10 rebounds while rookie Ausar Thompson had an all-around game, finishing
with 15 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 5 steals, and 2 blocks.
This win improvess the Cavs to 39-20, which makes them 2nd
in the Eastern Conference. They sit 0.5 games above the Bucks and are getting
back on track, winning 6 of their last 10 games. Their next game will be on Sunday
against the New York Knicks.
Meanwhile, this loss drops the Pistons to 9-50, tying them
with the Washington Wizards for the worst record in the league. Detroit has a
promising young core and will look to continue developing them before next
season. They are 3-7 over their last 10 games and will play on Sunday against
the Orlando Magic.
