The Chicago Bulls have announced that young forward Patrick Williams has been ruled out of the remainder of the season because of a foot injury.
The 22-year-old last played for the Bulls on January 25 in a match against the Los Angeles Lakers. As per the latest update, the Bulls have announced that Williams will not take further part in the competition as he has to go through foot surgery.
The development will be a major setback for the player as his current deal is set to expire in the summer and he was hoping to produce some notable performances before the end of the ongoing campaign which will increase his chances of getting a new deal next term.
The news will be a setback for the Bulls as well who are going through a difficult campaign as they are placed in the fourth position in the Central Division with 26 wins and 30 defeats.
Out of the 56 matches this season in the regular campaign, Williams played in 43 and was an important player for the Bulls. He was averaging 10 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game this season for the franchise.
Williams, who has been a Chicago player all his life, had his best outing this season in the match against the Miami Heat where he contributed 25 points to go with seven rebounds and four assists.
