The 22-year-old has been one of the most consistent performers
for the Timberwolves who are going through an amazing campaign where they are
placed on the top of the Northwest Division with 39 wins and 17 defeats.
Towns was recently quoted in a report where he heaped praise
on Edwards, who according to him will become the face of the NBA, sooner rather than
later.
"He hates when I say it, but he's going to be the face
of the NBA. Sooner than later,” he said. “We're super honored that we all get
to play with him, that we all get to help him in this process of maturing and
becoming the face, and I think the future's very, very bright for him."
Edwards is contributing 26.3 points per game for the Timberwolves
which is the 12th best in the competition. To go with that, he is
also contributing 5.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game.
In his previous outing against the Milwaukee Bucks, he ended
up registering 28 points to go with nine rebounds and five assists.
On the other hand, Towns
has also been influential for the franchise as he is contributing 22.5 points,
8.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game.
