The
Golden State Warriors head coach
Steve Kerr has heaped
praise on forward
Kevon Looney for mentoring young
Trayce Jackson-Davis.
The 24-year-old was the star performer for the Warriors in a
much-needed win against the
San Antonio Spurs on Monday.
Kerr was quoted in a report where he heaped praise on Looney
who according to him cheered for the youngster and mentored him despite losing his
place in the starting lineup.
“I’m really happy for Trayce; such a great young guy,” said Kerr.
“I’m also so impressed with Kevon Looney, and how he’s mentored him. And how
he’s handled these last few games not playing himself, but continuing to cheer
on Trayce and help him and give him advice.
“It’s really what it’s all about when you see the players
cheering for each other and looking after each other. It’s one of the things I
love about this group. I really see them constantly doing that, supporting one
another. That’s crucial if you want to have a winning team.”
Despite the win, the Warriors stay in the 10th position
in the Western Conference with 34 wins and 30 defeats. Jackson-Davis, in the
match against the Spurs, ended up registering a crucial 13 points to go with 10
rebounds and five assists.
