Jayson Tatum has stated that it was ‘great’ to see Marcus
Smart’s return to face his former team Boston Celtics.
The 29-year-old, who now plays for the Memphis Grizzlies,
returned to face his former team in the match on Sunday where the Celtics came
out on top with a score of 131-91 at the TD Garden.
Tatum was recently quoted in a report where he stated that
it was ‘great’ to see his former teammate and also stated that the reception he
received from the home fans was ‘only right.
"It was great. It was great to see the reception that
he got,” he said. "Being here for 10 years, he was the heart and soul of
this organization. People showed their respect and love today, he deserved it.
He deserved it all. It was just good to see him. Obviously, I miss him. But it
was just really good to see him."
"It's only right [to see fans cheering for Smart]. He
gave his blood, sweat, and tears every single night. He left it all on the
floor. He was part of the success that we had for so many years. For the
longest time, he was for sure the favorite Celtic, and rightfully so. So it was
good to see him get the love that he deserved."
During his time with the Celtics, the Texas-born ended up
registering more than 6,000 points to go with more than 2,000 rebounds and 2,600
assists.
