Dallas Mavericks point guard
Kyrie Irving has revealed that
he has made peace with the
Brooklyn Nets after facing his former team for the first
time since being traded last season.
The 31-year-old was one of the star performers for the
franchise in the match on Tuesday where the Mavericks came out on top with a
score of 119-107.
Talking after the match, Irving revealed that he decided to
ask for a trade to his current franchise in order to go at his own pace.
"I mean, I don't want to get too deep into it because I
love protecting the people that I'm in business with, even if it doesn't work
out," he said. "Again, I wish all those guys well. But conversations
that needed to be had weren't had before the trade deadline, and I don't know
if anything needed to be salvaged.
"I just think it was time to get my own peace of mind
and go somewhere where I was able to thrive, and be in a situation where I
didn't have to worry about kind of behind-the-back talk or the media talk or
not knowing how to handle real-life circumstances that has nothing to do with
the game of basketball. It has everything to do with how you handle someone as
a person.
"While I was here, I learned a lot of lessons. I've
made my peace again, like I said, and I just want to move forward."
Irving had a fabulous night for the winning team as he ended
up registering 36 points to go with two rebounds and five assists at the
Barclays Center on Tuesday night.
The Melbourne-born is having a more than impressive season
on the court where he is averaging 25.1 points per game. That’s not it as he is
averaging 5.1 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game as well.
