The Los Angeles Lakers faced off against the Sacramento Kings at Golden 1 Center and they couldn’t get the job done as they fell short 120-107. Domantas Sabonis got the best of Anthony Davis once again as he outplayed him in this duel.
The Lakers have struggled this season, as they are a play-in team for the 2nd straight season. LeBron James and AD are having amazing seasons but the rest of their role players haven’t been consistent. However, LA has proven that they can reach the Western Conference Finals after going through the play-in tournament so they’ll look to do that again this postseason.
LeBron James finished with nearly a triple-double as he recorded 18 points, 13 rebounds, and 9 assists but shot just 37.5% from the field. Anthony Davis ended with 22 points and 10 boards on 39% efficiency. Austin Reaves scored a team-high 28 points while hitting 7 triples. Rui Hachimura contributed 20 points and it was an off-night for D’Angelo Russell who scored just 6 points on 22% shooting.
Domantas Sabonis recorded another triple-double in this game as he finished with 17 points, 19 rebounds, and 10 assists. This was the 3-time All-Star’s 48th consecutive double-double and he is now 10-0 in matchups against Anthony Davis.
De’Aaron Fox scored a team-high 21 points with 7 assists while Keegan Murray recorded 19 points and 11 rebounds with 5 made three pointers. Harrison Barnes splashed in 7 triples on his way for 23 total points.
The Lakers drop to 36-31 with this loss and now sit 1 game above the Warriors for the 9th seed in the West. LA is struggling to put together a consistent stretch of games and with a championship in their minds, it will be a tough challenge to reach that goal. Luckily for them, there’s still a month of regular season basketball to figure things out. They are 6-4 over their last 10 games and will have a matchup against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday.
Sacramento improves to 38-27 with this win and move up to the 6th seed in the West. It’s a tight race for the top 6 spots so this win is huge for the Kings as they would like to avoid the play-in tournament.
