Tonight’s game featured 2 top teams in the NBA with superstar talent on both sides of the floor. However, things didn’t end well for the 2021 NBA champs, as Anthony Edwards willed the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 129-105 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks at Fiserv Forum.
The Wolves are fighting for a top spot in the Western Conference and during the trade deadline, they made a move to acquire Monte Morris from the Detroit Pistons. In exchange traded away Troy Brown Jr., Shake Milton, and draft compensation. The 28-year-old point guard only played in 6 games this season as he’s been dealing with a quad injury for most of the year, but he provides steady backup point guard play for non-Mike Conley minutes.
Ant-Man put on a show tonight, scoring 29 points to go with his 9 assists. Karl-Anthony Towns had 19 points and 5 rebounds while Rudy Gobert finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Mike Conley ended with 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 9 assists with 6 threes made. Naz Reid came off the bench and contributed 17 points and 4 rebounds.
The Bucks were short-handed tonight with no Damian Lillard or Khris Middleton. Giannis Antetokounmpo finished with 17 points, 3 rebounds, and 7 assists. Jae Crowder had 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists while AJ Green scored 27 points off the bench.
This win improves the Timberwolves to 36-16, which makes them 1st in the Western Conference and 0.5 games above the OKC Thunder and Denver Nuggets. Minnesota is 6-4 over their last 10 games and will look to build off this win on Monday night against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Meanwhile, this loss drops the Bucks to 33-19, which makes them 3rd in the Eastern Conference. Milwaukee is now 2 games behind the 2nd seeded Cleveland Cavaliers. They are 4-6 over their last 10 games and currently on a 3-game losing streak. Their next game will be tomorrow night against the Charlotte Hornets.
