After two days loaded with games to resume the NBA action post All-Star break, this Saturday night we have only three games scheduled. In this case we're going to check how the experts analyze the match between Paolo Banchero's Orlando Magic and the Detroit Pistons, led by Cade Cunningham. Two teams competing for very different goals.
The Magic will be visiting the Little Ceasars Arena with a victory in mind. With a 31-25 record, the Florida team is in 8th place in the East looking to continue to climb and, dream of reaching the sixth place in the Conference that would give them direct access to the playoffs.
A victory like the one they are looking for tonight cannot escape Orlando, who will face a Pistons team that does not really aspire to compete, but rather to achieve the worst possible record this season to get the coveted No. 1 pick in the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft.
Detroit is, right now, the worst team in the NBA. They are in last place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 8-47, although they are dangerously close to the Washington Wizards who are second to last at 9-47. So you could think that, if the Magic win this game, they would be doing the Pistons a huge favor in their rebuilding process.
Having said all this, although you can easily guess what may be the development of a game that should not have much drama, beyond what Detroit intention regarding to compete for the victory. What is the opinion of the experts? According to reports, these will be the quintets of the two teams and this is how the duel will develop:
- Pistons Quintet:Cade Cunningham - Jaden Ivey - Simone Fontecchio - Troy Brown Jr. - Jalen Duren
- Magic Quintet: Cole Anthony - Jalen Suggs - Franz Wagner - Paolo Banchero - Wendell Carter Jr
- Winner: Orlando Magic unless there is a major surprise. A game that, as mentioned above, should not be much trouble for the Florida franchise. This should be settled well before the end of the last quarter.
