Famous NBA broadcaster Stephen A. Smith believes that the Los Angeles Lakers are not serious title contenders, largely because of their performances against the in-form teams, especially against the reigning champion Denver Nuggets.
The Lakers are going through a difficult campaign as they are currently placed in the ninth position in the Western Conference with just 34 wins and 29 defeats.
Smith was recently quoted in a report where he reveals why he believes that the Lakers are not a serious title contender, largely because of their performances against stronger teams.
"How am I supposed to consider you a serious threat when the reigning defending NBA champions continuously abuses you at every turn?" Smith asked. "I just look at the Lakers, and I find myself saying, 'I'm like yo, they can ball. I get it. They can't beat the Denver Nuggets. That's their kryptonite. To me, that's the measuring stick.'"
The Lakers are going through a bit of a resurgence in the recent past as they have now won seven out of their last 10 matches.
In the most recent outing, they managed to defeat the Oklahoma City Thunder at the crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles with a score of 116-104. The star of the show for the winning team was D'Angelo Russell who ended up registering 26 points to go with six rebounds and three assists.
