With great moves down the line in the last 2023/24 trade deadline, the
Dallas Mavericks managed to acquire several improvements for the team.
Daniel Gafford and PJ Washington looked really promising after their debut with
Luka Doncic's squad. Fans are excited to witness what this newlyformed team is capable of.
In the Mavs' first game with their reconfigured roster, the Jason Kidd-led franchise easily disposed of the Oklahoma City Thunder with two outstanding performances from their signees - Gafford finished with 19 points and 9 rebounds in 17 minutes, and Washington had 14 points and 5 rebounds in 24 minutes.
The game lifted the spirits of Mavs fans, who via Reddit showed their euphoria and excitement about a team they already see as capable of competing for the ring for the first time since Doncic's arrival.
"Easily the best roster we've ever built around Luka," said one. "We now have a team that has all the different types of players a basketball team needs. It doesn't mean we're the best team in the world now, but I think fans of other teams will be surprised at how much better we look when Luka isn't the tallest guy in the lineup," added another.
"What fool misqualified the trades? I was thinking 'damn, Luka can finally have enough decent bigs to get a good point guard' when I saw those trades," noted a third about critics who claimed Dallas lost depth with its trades.
