There has been a budding rivalry between
Luka Doncic and
Devin Booker ever since the 2022 playoffs, where Devin Booker infamously trash
talked the Mavs star but got humbled as the 5-time All-Star got the last laugh,
blowing out the Suns in game 7 and stating that “everyone acting tough when
they up”.
The battle continued tonight and once again, it was Luka and
the
Dallas Mavericks that came out on top over the
Phoenix Suns 123-113 at American
Airlines Center.
The Mavs superstar scored a game high 41 points while also
recording 9 rebounds and 11 assists with 6 made three pointers. Co-star Kyrie
Irving helped out his teammate, finishing with 29 points on 5 made triples. To
add more fuel to this fire, Uncle Drew played against his former Nets teammate
Kevin Durant, as things didn’t go as planned in Brooklyn.
For Phoenix, Devin Booker had a team high 35 points and 8
assists but it wasn’t enough to get the job done. KD finished with 23 points
while Eric Gordon got the start for the injured Bradley Beal and he ended with
16 points with 4 made three pointers.
This win improves the Mavericks to33-23, which makes them 6th
in the Western Conference and giving them the tiebreaker over the Suns. Dallas
is 8-2 over their last 10 games and currently on a 7-game winning streak. Their
next game will be on Sunday evening against the Indiana Pacers.
On the flip side, this loss drops Phoenix to 33-23 and
making them stand at the 7th seed in the Western Conference. They
are 7-3 over their last 10 games and their next game will be tomorrow night
against the Houston Rockets where they’ll look to turn things around.
