Jonathan Kuminga is the 5th youngest player in NBA history to have 7 consecutive games with 20+ PTS on 50%+ FG.
The Golden State Warriors were able to score a much-needed, impressive win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night and Jonathan Kuminga was a huge part of that victory. He scored 26 points, his seventh consecutive game in a row featuring 20-plus points. Kuminga is now the fifth youngest player in NBA history to achieve that record while shooting over 50% from the field.
After the game, Draymond Green had nothing but strong and kind words for his teammate, praising his unstoppable abilities and the way he has progressed this season.
"I don’t think there is anyone who can stop him from getting to his spot," Green told The Athletic. "At times I have to remind him that, 'You took the three and that is fine, I don’t mind you taking the three. But can somebody stop you from getting anywhere that you want to go?'"
Steph Curry chimed in too: "Whether it’s attacking driving lanes, finishing at the rim, getting transition buckets for us and knocking down open shots. There's just an element of aggressiveness. You don’t want him out there second-guessing anything."
Kuminga now sits behind only Alperen Sengun, Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jalen Brunson, and Jaren Jackson Jr. for points in the paint during the last seven games. In that time, he has scored 108 points in that pivotal part of the court.
Just a few months ago, there were rumors of Kuminga not getting along well with head coach Steve Kerr and feeling frustration about his role on the team. But they have apparently mended their relationship and see eye-to-eye more because Kuminga is playing even better and Kerr is using him even more.
Because of all this, the Warriors are reportedly refusing to even consider trading Kuminga before the upcoming trade deadline. Like Curry, he is untouchable.
