The
Toronto Raptors have suffered a major setback as their small forward
Scottie Barnes has been ruled
out for an indefinite period after suffering a serious hand injury.
According to the
injury report, the 22-year-old suffered a
broken hand during the match against the
Golden State Warriors on Friday. It is
not clear whether he will be out of action and whether he will be available before the
end of the season.
Barnes injured his left hand in the second quarter while
trying to defend. Raptors confirmed that the player has suffered a fracture to his
left hand’s third metacarpal bone.
The night did not go well for the Raptors who ended up on
the losing side to the Warriors with a score of 120-105 at the Scotiabank Arena
in Toronto.
Barnes, who only managed to play 16 minutes on the night, ended
up registering 10 points to go with six rebounds and three assists. His absence
will be felt by the side who are currently placed out of the playoffs position
in the 12th spot with just 22 wins and 38 defeats this season.
Barnes has contributed 20 points, 8.3 rebounds and 6.1
assists per game for the Raptors in the ongoing campaign. His most impressive
outing this season came in the match against the Utah Jazz where he contributed
32 points to go with 14 rebounds and seven assists.
