Portland Trail Blazers' front office have made their intentions clear regarding Jerami Grant and Malcolm Brogdon's future with the franchise. Both names were involved in trade rumors and many teams remain interested in them and could benefit from an acquisition before the trade deadline.
For the Trail Blazers to consider trading either of these two players, they would require an offer that is highly attractive and satisfactory to them.
Jerami Grant is in the first year of a five-year, $160 million contract signed with Portland last summer. Blazers management has expressed that they envision Grant as a veteran leader for their re-building team, as well as seeing him as a building block at a position where roster depth is limited.
On the other hand, Malcolm Brogdon was added this summer in a series of moves involving both Damian Lillard and Jrue Holiday. The veteran shooting guard has $22.5 million remaining this season and the next one.
Despite having other young players at the guard position, Portland management values Brogdon's contribution to the group as an experienced veteran.
In short, the Portland Trail Blazers are reluctant to part with Jerami Grant and Malcolm Brogdon unless they receive exceptional offers that justify their departure. This makes this NBA 2024 trade deadline even less attractive, as it appears to be neither aggressive sellers nor buyers. We'll see what happens in the final hours.
