New Orleans Pelicans came into the Barclays Center to face off against the struggling
Brooklyn Nets and they took care of business behind
Zion Williamson’s dominant performance, defeating the home team 104-91.
The Pelicans have been quietly having one of the best seasons in the NBA this year. They had no All-Star representations despite Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram each averaging over 20 points, yet they weren’t bothered as they decided to let their game do the talking. New Orleans is getting closer to securing an official playoff spot while also possibly sneaking into a top 4 seed in the West.
Their success is because of the dominant play from Zion Williamson, who has really been locked in. It was reported that he lost 25 pounds, which is big news considering his weight was one of the concerning factors regarding his play. He looks much better on the court and his performance reflects that.
In this game, Big Z finished with 28 points and 7 rebounds on 11/16 shooting.
CJ McCollum scored 16 points while hitting 4 triples and Larry Nance Jr. had 13 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. Brandon Ingram finished with 11 points and 6 assists while Herb Jones recorded 11 points and 3 blocks.

New Orleans improves to 42-26 with this win and now sit just 0.5 games behind the Clippers for the 4th seed in the West. They are rolling right now as they win 3 games in a row and are 8-2 over their last 10 contests. Their next matchup will be on Thursday against the Orlando Magic.
Brooklyn drops to 26-43 with this loss. The struggles continue for this team as this is now 4 losses in a row. The Nets don’t own their first-round pick due to the James Harden trade back in 2021 so things aren’t looking good for this franchise. They will face off against the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday.
