The upcoming
Free Agency will definitely make some noise. There's at least one really good player for each position. From scorers to playmakers, you can find rebounders and defenders too. All of them ready to sign a big contract and help a franchise to compete, if they decide to go away from where they are, or maybe renew the illusions with their current team. That's why we decided to make a list with the top ten players in every position, starting today with the floor generals, the best point guards of next free agency.
This free agency early guide will help understanding which player could be going to which team, and maybe having a glimpse of what kind of contract they most likely could be signing. In the list, players like
Tyrese Maxey,
James Harden,
D'Angelo Russell,
Russell Westbrook or
Jrue Holiday.
1 Tyrese Maxey:
Tyrese Maxey is having a stellar season with the Philadelphia 76ers, taking care of the offense when Joel Embiid isn't available. Maxey surely draws attention from several NBA teams, but he'll probably stay in Philly, because the Sixers are preparing a $200 million, five-year contract, a tough number to beat.
2 James Harden
James Harden's situation with the Los Angeles Clippers started slowly, but now, being one of the best teams in the Western Conference, and with the team running at full power, there's no reason for the Beard to go somewhere else.
3 Jrue Holliday
Boston Celtics signed Jrue Holliday the last summer and he has fully bought into their winning ways. Jrue is an elite defender and a solid point guard that's helping the Celtics to be the top team in the NBA. His future hinges on his player option, $39.4 million. The best decision for him would be to remain in Boston.
4 D'Angelo Russell
Much has been discussed about D'Angelo Russell possible destinations before the trade deadline. Through 51 games played, Russell has averaged 17.5 points and 6.3 assists per game for the Lakers. If Russell opts into his player option this summer he could very likely be a part of a deal with Atlanta that helps the Lakers to land Trae Young or Dejounte Murray.
5 Russell Westbrook
Russell Westbrook's selfless play for the Clippers may result in him staying with the team for another season. Russ remains impactful despite coming from the bench and his team is winning. Being a California homeborn, it's almost certain that he would like to opt for his $4 million player option.
6 Tyus Jones
Tyus Jones is having a career year with the Washington Wizards, He is currently averaging 12.6 points and 6.8 assists per game while shooting 50% from the field and 42.6% from three. His impressive season could lead to offers from the Suns, Bucks and Heat.
7 Markelle Fultz
Markelle Fultz, though injured, still holds potential for teams looking for a solid point guard. He could add depth and quality to any team that's willing to pay him around $12 to $18 million annualy.
8 Spencer Dinwiddie
The Los Angeles Lakers signed him for the remainder of the season. He's averaging 12.4 points and 6 assists, making him very interesting for any team that wants to add depth and experience to its roster,
9 Jose Alvarado
Jose Alvarado has been a key bench player for the Pelicans and is likely to stay with the team but he attracts interest from others seeking depth in the point guard position. The Knicks could be an option, the Kings too.
