Week ago, as the NBA trade deadline grew closer and closer, many teams around the league were under the impression that Coby White of the Chicago Bulls was on the market and could be signed for the right package. Now, just hours before the deadline passes, the Bulls have changed their minds about White.
The Bulls have had a tough season from the very beginning, mostly due to a slew of devastating, season-ending injuries. But White has been one of the bright spots on the roster and is having the best season of his career. Because of that, White is now untouchable in trades and is sure to stay with the team for the rest of the year.
White is averaging 19.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game, shooting 46.5% from the field and 39.9% from the three-point line. This season, he has started in all 51 games and is playing an average of 36 minutes per match.
During this season, White has shown that he is growing into a strong two-way player and will likely remain in the starting lineup, even when the rest of the roster is fully healthy.
The Bulls have many assets that they could trade, such as Alex Caruso, Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and others. It says something that they could still be traded while White is now embedded into the team's future. He is just 23 years old and has only been in the league for four years.
White has gotten a lot better this season and there is a chance he could grow even more in the seasons ahead. It's no surprise that he is now a major part of the Bulls' plans post-trade deadline.
