Golden State Warriors shooting guard
Klay Thompson has
backed his team to do well in the remainder of the season.
The Warriors had a rather tough first half of the campaign
where they are fifth in the Pacific Standings with 23 wins and 25 defeats this
season. In the recent fixture, they defeated the Philadelphia 76ers with a
score of 127-104 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on Wednesday.
Thompson, while talking to the media, backed his team to do
well in the second-half of the season.
“I see Steph Curry. I see Draymond. I go home and check our
playoff record. You have what we have, champions. I believe,” he said. “I will
always believe. It is a long season you know. I will always believe that we can
always make a run.”
Thompson was one of the many Warriors players who was heavily
linked with a move away from the franchise in the ongoing transfer window.
Talking about that, the 34-year-old stated that he is
looking to stay with his current team for a long time.
“I don’t partake in NBA discourse,” he said. “It is such a
waste of energy. At the end of the day, I will just want to be myself. That is
a correct assessment [that I want to stay here for].”
Thompson is having a decent season for the franchise where
he is averaging 17.1 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
