The four-time NBA Champion,
Klay Thompson, is having one of the most challenging seasons of his career. His team, the
Golden State Warriors can't seem to find their form yet, currently ranking 10th in the Western Conference. Klay's contract is up for a renewal this summer and if the Dubs can't shift the course of this season, we might see the Splash Brothers split-up.
The 2023-24 season is been a bumpy road for the Golden State Warriors. Steve Kerr's pupils just don't seem to find the right functioning despite having almost all the squad healthy and ready to play. Steph Curry has been the only member of the team that's been consistent throughout all the season, playing at an MVP level with 35 years old. But the Dubs can't rely only on Steph's performances, as Curry stated in an interview a couple of nights ago, the Warriors are "very average". The rest of the team needs to step up.
Klay Thompson has slowed than this past couple of seasons, especially after winning the 2022 NBA Championship. Despite coming back from two devastating injuries, it's like this season is the one that's giving him the most troubles. He often looks out of rhythm with his shots and his defensive presence is not the same.
Perhaps with yesterday's change in the Warriors starting line-up, he'll benefit from it. Against Utah Klay bounced back from the mistake he made at the end of the game against the Clippers, scoring 35 points coming from the bench.
According to Shams Charania, Thompson would like to explore his value this upcoming summer and, as always, the Lakers are looking really interested in bringing home one of the most prolific shooters of all time. The Clippers are also in the mix of teams that would welcome Klay, and given the fact that he's from LA he could definitely stay in California.
We'll see how the events unfold, perhaps coming from the bench could be what Thompson needed to be that deadly shooter that help Steph win 4 NBA rings.
