NBA teams have been reaching out to the Dallas Mavericks with interest in Dereck Lively, but their inquiries are consistently being rejected, per @MikeAScotto (Via bit.ly/47ETOU6)
With a 24-18 record and sixth seed in the Western Conference, the Dallas Mavericks are considered one of the best teams in their conference, although they clearly have room for improvement. They currently have several options to increase their chances of a long playoff run.
A recent report said that the Mavericks are considering several ways to upgrade their forward position, as they see this as key to contending in the postseason.
Dallas attempted to get Bojan Bogdanovic last year but plans to land him fell apart. They took a run at Pascal Siakam recently but he ultimately went to the Indiana Pacers.
The team is reportedly intrigued by the prospect of signing Jerami Grant of the Portland Trail Blazers or Kyle Kuzma of the Washington Wizards. Both of those players would provide a lot of power and experience and could become the team's prominent new forwards.
League insiders believe that the Mavericks would be willing to offer Josh Green, Jaden Hardy, or Grant Williams - or a combination of all three - in order to get a deal done, although they will spend the next few weeks considering their options and not committing to anything until the trade deadline is closer.
Dallas' new center, Dereck Lively II, has received a lot of attention so far this season. He has averaged 8.9 points and 7.8 rebounds during his first year in the league and has a part of the team's starting lineup. Because of this, multiple teams are interested in signing him, but the Mavericks have apparently told them all that Lively isn't going anywhere.
The Mavericks just fell to the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday and next face the Boston Celtics on Monday evening, followed by the Phoenix Suns, Atlanta Hawks, and Sacramento Kings.
