The Minnesota Timberwolves are the favourites to sign Brooklyn
Nets point guard Ben Simmons in the summer as a free agent.
The 27-year-old’s current
contract is set to conclude in the summer of 2024-25 but there have been reports
that the Nets might buyout his contract in the summer, thus making him a free agent for the next season.
As per the recent report, the Timberwolves
are favourites to sign Simmons as a free agent. According to Spotrac, the
Melbourne-born is currently on a contract where he is guaranteed to earn around $37,893,408
guaranteed sum.
Prior to his season-ending injury, Simmons didn't play much for the Nets either, averaging just 6.1 points per game along with 7.9 rebounds and 5.7 assists in the 15 games injuries allowed him to play.
His best outing in the 2023-24
campaign came in the match against the San Antonio Spurs where he ended up
registering 13 points to go with three assists and five rebounds.
Timberwolves have
been going through a brilliant season as they are placed on the second position
in the Western Conference, having won 44 matches and suffering just 20 defeats.
