Star point guard Kyrie Irving believes that a lot of teams are now targeting the Dallas Mavericks after their consistent performances in the recent past and a great understanding with the team's other big star, Luka Doncic.
The Mavericks are one of the most in-form teams in the competition as they have won 32 matches and suffered 24 just defeats this season. Those results left the side as high as the second place in the Southwest Division. They have won seven out of the last eight matches in the competition. The next outing will be up against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Irving was recently quoted in a report where he claimed that it is no surprise for him and his teammates that other teams are now targeting Mavericks as the season is heading towards the business end.
"A lot of teams are coming after us," he said while talking to the reporters. "You kind of see the media calling us legitimate contenders. I don't think it's our time right now to be listening to all that noise. We just have to focus on one game at a time and get ready for what's ahead of us."
Irving is having a fabulous season himself for the Mavericks where he is contributing 25.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game.
