In franchise sports, team valuation plays a huge role in determining how successful the league is and it is no different in the NBA as well which is undoubtedly the most successful basketball and most-watched competition in the world.
We are bringing you a list of five such teams who to date have been valued as the most expensive teams in the history of the competition, with the Golden State Warriors and New York Knicks taking all the spots.
Golden State Warriors 2022-23 - $7.7 billion
In the 2022-23 season, the Golden State Warriors became the first team in the history of the NBA to be valued over $7 billion twice. The side has won three NBA titles since 2015, largely because of the heroics of star performer Stephen Curry.
Golden State Warriors 2021-22 - $7 billion
The Warriors became the first side ever in the history of NBA to be valued over $5 billion in the 2021-22 season. They lifted the title from no position that season after beating the Boston Celtics in the final with a score of 4-2, largely because of Curry.
New York Knick 2020-21 - $5 billion
The New York Knicks in the 2020-21 season were valued at around $5 billion. They were the first team to be valued at around $5 billion. In that season, the Knicks qualified for the playoffs but lost to the Atlanta Hawks.
New York Knick 2019-20 - $4.6 billion
In the 2019-20 season, the Knicks was valued around $4.6 billion. The team, on the court, had a dismal season as they won just 17 matches and had to sack their coach David Fizdale as well.
New York Knicks 2018-19 - $4 billion
In the 2018-19 season, once again it was the Knicks side which was valued the highest, at around $4 billion. The results on the court were once again dismal as the side went on to win just 17 matches and suffered 65 defeats.
