Continuing with their long trip, the
Phoenix Suns visited the
Orlando Magic this sunday afternoon.
Devin Booker is having an awesome streak of great scoring performances and tonight it was no exception. Orlando put up a hard fight despite being almost all the game behind in the scoreboard. Phoenix cooled off when it mattered the most, against an asfixiating Magic's defense. Orlando got a huge win 116-110.
The Suns came from a wonderful offensive display by Booker who scored 62 points, yet his team lose to the Pacers by a double.
Orlando was looking to recover from a loss suffered against the Grizzlies last Friday. The Magic's having a challenging January, they came to this game losing 7 of their last 9 games. They came to this game decided to get a win to produce a shift in their mommentum.
Phoenix controlled the entire game, with Orlando having some runs that allowed them to stay close in the scoreboard. The Magic had 0 answers for Devin Booker, who's playing as an All-Star starter at this point. He's scoring effortlessly and efficiently. This game he already had 30 points three minutes into the 3rd quarter.
It was at this point that the Magic really applied themselves on what's been their greatest strength this season, their defense. Orlando started to hustle every posession, putting a hand on every shot.
The Magic kept this good run in the forth, were everyone in the Suns seemed like they just couldn't hit a shot. On defense, Phoenix let the Magic grab too many offensive boards. Those second chance shots by Orlando proved to be decisive.
Paolo Banchero led the team in scoring, with 26 points. The whole Magic team put up an admirable effort. Markelle Fultz was a nice surprise, not only scoring but registering 5 steals, playing with great energy.
Franz Wagner & Mo Wagner were very important, Franz did a little bit of everything, registering 11 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Moritz was particularly pivotal attacking the boards, he finished with 12 rebounds, 5 of them on the offensive glass.
Booker finished with 44 points in another extraordinary presentation. The rest of the Suns really struggled tonight, Durant was the only one to score more than 10 points in Phoenix, adding just 15 points.
